Abhinav Raina, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Abhinav Raina, M.D., F.A.C.C., graduated from medical school in Srinagar, India with high honors in 1986. He then immigrated to the United States. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the State University of New York, Long Island, New York, and finished his Residency in Internal Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland in 1993. He began his fellowship in Cardiology at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, at the National Institutes of Health, including subspecialty training in Nuclear Cardiology. His Cardiology Fellowship was then completed at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 1997.

Dr. Raina is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, with subspecialty certification in Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and Vascular Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He has been named to the Honor list of the National Institutes of Health Alumni Association.

He maintains active staff privileges at Providence Hospital, Southfield; Providence Park Hospital, Novi; William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak; and St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at Wayne State University, and the Director of Nuclear Cardiology Services at Providence Hospital and Consultants in Cardiology. He is actively involved in the teaching of residents and fellows and has been named “Teacher of the Year” on repeated occasions.

Dr. Raina joined Consultants in Cardiology in 1997.

He has a special interest in nuclear cardiology, cardiac catheterization, transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography, and permanent pacemaker implantation.

Dr. Raina is fluent in English, Hindi, and Kashmiri.
