Gary Hunsinger Jr. , BSN, MSN, ACNP-BC

Gary Hunsinger Jr., BSN, MSN, ACNP-BC received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1992.  He as worked in various nursing positions in trauma/resuscitation/ICU at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, surgical ICU at Loyola Medical Center Emergency Room, and as a flight nurse for Aero Care in West Chicago.  He has indirect patient care work with Bayer Pharmaceuticals before returning to direct patient care when he graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a concentration as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2004.

Since 2004, Gary has worked as a nurse practitioner in cardiology at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, and Cardiovascular Institute within the Detroit Medical Center.  Prior to joining Consultants in Cardiology, he was an electrophysiology/cardiology nurse actioner for the Wayne State University Physician Group at Harper Hospital., Detroit Receiving Hospital, and Karmanos Cancer Center in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Gary’s experience includes nursing education as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan, guest lector for the Wayne State University physician assistant program in Detroit, educational speaker for several medical industry companies, and sat on the Diversity and Inclusion committee for Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He has provided care to patients in the areas of anticoagulation, dyslipidemia, heart failure, and electrophysiology, cardias conditions in cancer patients, and acute coronary syndrome as well as inpatient hospital care since 2004.
