Kirit Shah, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P., received his medical degree from the University of Bombay, Bombay, India in 1975. He completed his Internship at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Brooklyn, New York, and his Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital, Detroit, Michigan in 1980. He completed his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan in 1982.
Dr. Shah is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians.
He maintains active Staff privileges at St. John Providence Hospital, Southfield; St. John Providence Park Hospital, Novi; William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak; St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia. Currently, Dr. Shah is a member of the teaching faculty at Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan.
During the course of his career Dr. Shah has received numerous honors including: Significant Teaching Award “Department of Medicine” Grace Hospital, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan; the Outstanding Teaching Contribution Recognition, Grace Hospital, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan; and the Best Teacher of the Year Award (Golden Stethoscope), Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, and Best Teacher of the Year Award 2008, Department of Cardiology, Providence Hospital.
Dr. Shah’s additional medical affiliations include the: Wayne County Medical Society, American Society of Echocardiography, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Vascular Medicine.
Dr Shah is fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
He merged his practice with Consultant’s in Cardiology in 1996. He was instrumental in developing the peripheral vascular lab and serves as its director.
His areas of interest include cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and peripheral vascular disease.
